We need a real change!
I will be a representative of the people and not a politician because my ethics and morals are not for sale.
Coming in my duty is to provide some type of moratorium to minimize evictions due to the pandemic COVID-19. As soon as eviction moratoriums expire there will be a lot of renters who will be facing eviction. Eviction has the effect of total disruption of a person's live, especially that of a child.
I want to prioritize residents over big business. Residents and big business should work together as equal partners with equal benefits.
Address the senior citizen housing because at this point in their lives seniors should not have to decide whether they eat, take medicine, or be homeless. I want to provide a REAL safety net for vulnerable seniors.
Devise real solutions for cleaning up homelessness-safety nets to the "invisible" homeless, recovery for those willing and transitional housing.
Transparency with our spending--our city is on the verge of bankruptcy.
Encourage community policing so that the police will really have more insight to the resident's needs.
Rent stabilization - when our renters are unstable our city is unstable. Making better decisions for the city to assist the citizens in dealing with the effects of COVID-19.
My decisions will pay dividends for the residents in big ways.
I offer representation that cannot be bought or sold, transparency in my actions and my reputation is above reproach.
I am very approachable and really want to know the concerns of the residents, All the Time! Not just in an election year!
We have a great city we just deserve leadership that cannot be bought.

OC Register Endorsement - Kenneth Batiste for District 5
Endorses Kenneth Batiste for Council District 5:
The District 5 seat currently is held by Steve Faessel. We had endorsed him in 2016 largely because of his support for limiting taxes and opposition to Anaheim’s draconian short-term rental ban. We’ve been disappointed, however, by his vote for the stadium deal, his belief that pension liabilities will be handled simply by boosting the economy, and his backing of status quo policies involving the Resort Area and major spending issues.
This year we support Kenneth Batiste. Although we disagree with his emphasis on housing subsidies, we like his criticism of the city’s special tax breaks for hotels and the convention center bond. He also is open to reforming the city’s overly costly benefit plans. Batiste opposed the stadium deal — and argued that Anaheim should have sold this prime property at auction.

……2) So when you give to the needy, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by men. Truly I tell you, they already have their full reward. 3) But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4) so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.… (from Matthew 6:3)
